Mid-Wales based Sculptor Stephen Page specialises in making original artworks to
be cast in bronze through the lost wax process.
In 2005 He started working on a range of animal sculptures simplifying the forms
down to their bare essentials, stripping away the trappings and details and focusing
on the very essence of the animal. This economy of means gives the work a timelessness
and permanence; under the silent outer appearance of fullness, the smooth sculpture
nurtures an aspiration to universal form. The sculptures are characterised by rounded
forms, geometric shapes with influences ranging from prehistoric artefacts and markings,
ancient Cycladic Art and artists such as Brancusi and Pompon.
