“I am interested the human experience of life, death and birth, which brings us closer to ourselves and takes us beyond ourselves.
I think of this as ‘the journey home’.
I believe that the process of making and experiencing art can be a tool which assists us on this journey.
Between 1989 and 2004 I made vessels in clay, earth, wood and fibre.
I considered these to be vehicles which might help transport the viewer away from the business of daily life, into a quieter place.
In May 2004 I began developing textured paintings, using ceramic on canvas.
I saw these as mirrors which might reflect aspects of the self and provide a focus for contemplation.
