Veda Hallowes

Born and brought up in South Africa, Veda came late to sculpture after a successful career first in nursing and then as a ceramicist and ceramics teacher while she and her family lived abroad.

Over the years her work has been enriched by the experience of living and working in South Africa, Peru, Hong Kong and Pakistan.

Veda works mainly in bronze, using fruits as a metaphor for the female torso. Her bronzes exude fertility and sensuality, as well as humour through the gentle curves of their forms and the unique, beautiful patinas that she has developed over many years.

Her present focus is on "Seeds of Change," as, with COVID, 'Climate Change' and 'Black Lives Matter', the world is changing.
